Concrete Volume Basics for Home Projects

Most home projects are rectangular slabs: patio, shed pad, or sidewalk. Volume is length × width × thickness. Keep units consistent, or use a calculator that converts inches and feet for you.

Uneven subgrades, pump lines, and spillage eat concrete. A 5–10% safety buffer is standard. Coming up short mid-pour usually costs more than ordering a little extra.
